When I started my personal blog in 2008 I started interviewing Australian women who ran online businesses.

Over the years I’d read newspaper articles about them and always thought – wow, they’re so brave. I’d look at the photos snapped of them in their studios and imagine the amazing life they must have.

When I decided to approach these women with my questions I’d always be surprised by how friendly and down to earth they were. They were just like the rest of us.

I recently read an eBook by someone who I’d admired for years. I’d never read their paid work before and I was surprised to see it didn’t hold up to the expectations I had. Granted, it was about a subject I’m not new to – but still – again, there was that reminder that beneath the perceptions and images we create about people in our minds – they’re just like everyone else.

The point to this little ramble, I think, is if you see people around you seemingly doing and having everything you want – you should think to yourself – you can have that too. They’re no different to you. They went out and made it happen and you can too.
