You know those people who just seem to pop up everywhere? Once they are on your radar you see their name everywhere? Tara Gentile, editor of creative blog Scoutie Girl, was one of those people.
I had popped over to her website once or twice but never really committed (a mistake I’ve since corrected).
When I saw the title of her eBook – 52 Weeks of Blogging Your Passion – I thought this would be the perfect time to get to know her a little better so I bought it. Tara has followed up that eBook with 52 MORE Weeks of Blogging Your Passion.
I’m going to review both of her eBooks in this post for the simple reason that I found they worked best together (and you can upgrade to get both for just an extra $5). I wouldn’t recommend one, without the other. I’ll explain why below.
Who these eBooks are for
Created for Tara’s target audience of crafters, artists and designers, these eBooks will help any passionate business owner who blogs (or wants to). Practical ideas and information will help you blog more confidently and with greater purpose to achieve better results.

The good bits (of both)
- Practical ideas that you can take and use for your business straight away
- An introduction to optimising blog posts for search engine traffic
- You’ll learn the concepts of strategic blogging to support your business results
- 104 blog topics ideas – that’s the next 2 years covered (no more anxiety about what to write!)
- Encourages you to be organised – the strategy bit and practical ideas help with that
- Gives you the big picture view of blogging – it’s easy to think ‘you just have to’ but this shows you how it can have a direct impact on your business
- The ideas and strategy can be applied to any business
The not so good bits (of both)
- It’s not so much a bad point – more a recommendation for readers. I think you’ll get the most value from these eBooks if you read 52 MORE weeks of blogging your passion before 52 weeks of blogging your passion.
My favourite bits
- I loved that both books worked together. The first gives you 52 creative and interesting ideas that you can use straight away – whether you’re a crafty person, blogger, service provider or online seller.
- The second one (52 MORE weeks) takes you through the strategy of blogging for business. That is, to show the human side of your business wrapped up in a narrative. Journey blogs are one of the most compelling ways to build an audience.
- The two eBooks used together gives you an overall strategy and practical ideas to support that strategy – both can be applied to any business.
- I refer to them every month when I write a rough editorial calendar
How they helped me (and why you need both)
You can never have enough inspiration. Most of us are blogging solo – we don’t have other people in our home office to bounce ideas off. I felt like these eBooks filled that gap.
While there are 52 specific suggestions in the first one, I found that these suggestions sparked off related ideas for other posts.
The second eBook, 52 More Weeks of Blogging Your Passion kept me on track with my post ideas – ensuring they continued the narrative of my message and my story. It really forces you to look at the bigger picture – so you’re focused on creating blog posts that are of value to your audience, and your business. Since reading them, I’ve gone back to both whenever I feel stuck.
