In the time we’ve been in London I haven’t seen a show on West End or stepped foot in Topshop (go on, of course I’ve done that!) but I can give you directions to IKEA Croydon.
Our lovely London flat came complete with a fridge, washer, dryer and dishwasher and not much else. That means that we’ve been looking to IKEA for the cheapest yet comfortable basics we can get. We’ve got all of the above being delivered tomorrow (plus a bed frame and a mattress! Such luxury!) and I can’t tell you how much of a relief it is.
I had no idea how long it would take to get things sorted when you’re starting from scratch in a new country! I think it was better that I didn’t have a clue really!
As I was walking around the warehouse I noticed myself saying ‘Oh, I love that’ over and over. It got me thinking about just how much brand love IKEA enjoys. Not only is it great for affordable furniture it’s also a brilliant case study for anyone in business.
Jennifer Henderson wrote this great critique of the IKEA brand for the Creative Women’s Circle based in Melbourne, Australia. While you’re there read part two of the branding series about Mozi, a local business, and the lessons we can all learn from their success.
P.S. Our broadband is scheduled to be connected tomorrow so I’ll be able to post on a more regular basis! Can’t wait!

Big, big heart for IKEA … it’s lucky for my bank balance that it’s on the other side of Brisbane and they haven’t caught on to this new-fangled thing called online shopping

I love IKEA too – we also used them to furnish our house from top to bottom when we moved to countries recently – plus their stuff is so great for furnishing a home office as well – hence my office is my own little piece of Scandinavian white heaven.
Love my new space.
