6 Of The Best: Business Books to Read This Year

BY:

FILED UNDER: 6 Of The Best

Do you read business books?

I didn’t read that many last year and I want to change that so I thought I’d do a round up of business books that are on my list to read this year.

  1.  Brand Thinking and Other Noble Pursuits by Debbie Millman
  2. Zag: The Number One Strategy of High-performance Brands by Marty Neumeier
  3. Wally Olins: The Brand Handbook by Wally Olins
  4. Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (My favourite business book. Will be reading it again in the new year. Love it!!)
  5. Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh
  6. The Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin

This one called Built to Sell by John Warrillow looks interesting too.

What books should I add to the list? Would love to hear your recommendations in the comments!

  1. This is a good round up of books Clare.

Be great if you could add “Hot Tips For Career Chicks’ by, umm, me….

The tips are practical whether you work for a company or have your own business and are working with staff, clients and suppliers!

  2. Great list! I’m going to add “Creative Inc.” – by Cho Ilasco to it :) http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Creative-Inc-Cho-Ilasco/9780811871617

The Achilles Syndrome by Petruska Clarkson, even if you only peek at the odd page

  3. Perfect timing Clare! I’m in need of some new business book reading material!

A few I read last year and would recommend:

The 4 Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss
    Craving Success by Melody Biringer

  4. I agree with Karen Adamedes’s comment above. Karen’s book is excellent!

I hope you enjoy “Delivering Happiness” by Tony Hsieh. I read it this time last year and I remember sitting down to start the book … I was so riveted that I literally could not put it down. I didn’t stand up again until I finished it! It was fascinating to learn about the way he built his business.

I also recently enjoyed reading “The 48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene. It’s a different type of business book but very interesting.

  5. thanks for all of your other recommendations guys!

@Valerie – I’ve been meaning to get it since it came out! Love their story so I can’t wait to read more about it.

My FAVORITE business book of all time is The Referral Engine! SO AMAZING! I can’t suggest it enough. Practical and straight-forward.

  6. Love a good biz book! Let’s get crackin’!
(Have read the Zappos book and I can affirm it’s awesomeness)
I also must recommend Lynda Resnick’s book Rubies In The Orchard….

Great list! Debbie Millman is fabulous. I’m going to add Delivering Happiness to my list.

On my to-be-read list are Start With Why by Simon Sinek, Uncertainty by Jonathan Fields and Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath.
