One Bite at a Time, 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler

First things first – I’m not a mom mum. But when I saw Tsh from Simple Mom tweeting a tip about simplifying home organisation I followed the link.

It led me to her ebook called One Bite at a Time, 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler.

I had a look through and bought it. Before I give you my thoughts on it – here are how the projects are broken down into categories.

  • Organising your space
  • Living well
  • Relationships
  • Money management
  • Taking care of yourself
  • Living green
  • Time management
  • Organising your mind

The goods

Being a typical Type A, there was no way I’d be able to only start one project per week.

Within 20 minutes of starting to read I was up and throwing some laundry in the washing machine. Then I tackled that shower screen that had been bugging me. It felt so good to take action.

I’ve followed Tsh’s tip about not leaving things to get worse. If it takes 2 minutes – do it now. This simple tip has been huge for me. I spilled some oil in the oven the other day and I cleaned it up right away (I’d usually groan and leave it). It’s sorted AND you get to feel smug about being organised.

I’ve refered back to particular projects a few times and have even started a Pinterest board to catalogue all the recipes that I fancy (another tip in the ebook) though hers is pretty good for inspiration!

The bads

There are some projects that didn’t apply to me, but would for women with kids.

The next one might just be me but I wouldn’t like to print out all of the 52 projects. My mind tells me that I don’t need another thing to do each week – even if it will help me in the long run. If I had the inclination to print the projects/notes – I’d just choose the projects I wanted to action so that it didn’t feel so ‘big’.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, that’s why I’m blogging about it! Go check it out.

  1. I bought this last week on Kindle and read it one night. Absolutely loved it for its ease of read, practicalness and the fact that a lot of the tasks are quick and easy to do.

It really motivated me to get moving on some stuff!

  2. Gosh I love lists and a list of 52 tasks that will help me improve the way I do things certainly appeals. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one and helpful to get the non-parental angle too :)

  3. thanks for your comments guys. I found the way I used it was to read it in one sitting then I picked out 5 (or so) projects I wanted to start using right away. I’ve incorporated them into my daily life and it’s made such a difference to my peace of mind. When I’m ready for more I have a look through and see if I can add anything else.
