Bio The path that led her to this point
If It's Style You Want is the lovechild of my affair with the fashion industry.
After many years of working for high end labels between Perth and Melbourne I realised there was a need in the market to provide a shopping and styling service to the everyday person. A service that would provide style advice to suit the everyday lifestyle rather than celebrities for red carpet moments.
I started 'If It's Style You Want' because I realised you can't always rely on the advice the Sales Assistant or your mum (bias) or partner (bias) gives you when you're shopping for a new outfit.
I love fashion! I love how it can transform, the way it can give that little confidence boost when you’re not feeling yourself.
I believe looking good gives you the confidence you need to do better. People always notice when you've made an effort and they respect that.
My business motto is: Look good | Feel good | Have the confidence to achieve.
Q&A Insider advice & tips
What's been your greatest achievement to date?
Being nominated for a Telstra Women's Business Award.
What's been your biggest challenge so far?
I'm involved in a lot of projects, have a big family and like to stay connected to my community so trying to run a business and keep it fresh, inspiring and up-to-date has been the biggest challenge. Especially with social media changing every two seconds, sometimes it's hard to keep up.
Best lesson you've learned along the way?
I took a long time launching the business because I wanted it to be perfect.
I was over-cautious in my marketing and who I approached to form partnerships because I kept feeling that my business wasn't ready. If I had the chance to go back, I would just leap. Just do it. You adapt your business as you go anyway.
A website, book or resource that has helped you in your business or inspired you and why?
I'm so in love with Canva.com.
It's been such a good resource in helping me build my style profiles. Great for blogging and creating campaigns too.
Which person or brand do you most admire and why?
He's made business fun and never shied away from sharing his flaws and failures. He's relentless. It's very motivating.
What advice would you give someone starting an independent business in your industry?
Styling is a VERY competitive industry. Look for something that makes you stand out from the rest and build your business around that.
